The Nurturers/Mother-Girl Pattern
(Conscious Mother, Subconscious Girlchild)

Mother-Girls are the “gentle folk.” They know how to take care of others. Consciously they are wise, nurturing and like to teach, and subconsciously, they are caring. Their Mother energy is warm and personable, and their Girlchild energy is soft, kind and beautiful. They have great sensitivity and are able to mother life in the most delicate ways, but they lack masculine energy, which can be problematic—especially when they are male.

Because of the challenges Mother-Girls often experienced in childhood, they can feel another person’s pain and understand it from that person’s perspective, instead of from an outsider’s point of view. They can also merge, at some level, with the people they are communing with or giving advice to. This can be a very powerful asset. They can absorb other people’s thoughts, feelings and energy like a sponge. They innately understand what other people want and often cave in to the pressure of these spoken or unspoken expectations, which can sometimes be uncomfortable. They tend to have a certain amount of psychic ability and can even tap into the elemental essence of inanimate objects. Most Mother-Girls also have an uncanny ability to commune with animals.

When Mother-Girls function from their loving archetypes, they are like shepherds, tending their flock. Their intuition becomes a fount of wisdom, understanding and inspiration for others to partake in. When Mother-Girls cannot set healthy boundaries for themselves, Girlchild feels victimized, and Mother becomes aloof to the fact that they are not keeping anything for themselves. Eventually, they may feel justified in never giving again.

Mother-Girls respond to those who would push them around with passive aggression, be it in a marriage, in a work environment or, with an entire nation. When they subconsciously experience resentment towards someone, they will consciously ignore or abandon the person. People expect Mother-Girls to really give of themselves, and when they go aloof, the juxtaposition of the two behaviors is very hard for others to accept.

Mother-Girls know how to give intimacy. They know how to recognize what is most wonderful in a person. With them, we can experience the most incredible connection. On the flip side, they can use their psychic sensitivity to manipulate and control others. They can sweep through your subconscious and seduce you by telling you what you want to hear about yourself. They know how to make it so that others become hooked to the level of intimacy they supply. That is why it is so important for them and for the people around them to establish healthy boundaries.
